Hello, my name is Kamron.
My first name is six letters long. Many important things in my life can be summed up in six letter words. For example:
ALFORD: My last name. It's the same length as my first name, so it'll line up perfectly on the front cover of that book I keep trying to write but never seem to finish. The name Alford doesn't really mean much in a historical sense. My dad's side of the family is poor English farmers all the way back to the 12th century.
My mum's side fared a little better in the excitement department, however (not to say that my father's side was entirely boring, of course! My grandfather was a professional cattle showman for forty years). Because of this excitement, I am one-sixteenth Pacific Islander (made obvious to observers only by my curly hair and inability to jump), and was frequently treated to my grandfather's retelling of his days in the Navy.
SPINET: This was the word I missed in the 2004 National Spelling Bee (I ended up in seventy-first place). I still watch the NSB regularly, and am likely the only person who keeps track of word statistics as rigorously as I do.
Spinet symbolizes my schwarmerei for words. Obscure words, melodious words, cacophonous words, bizarre words... I love them all. I used to keep a copy of Webster's Third New International in my bathroom for some light reading (an action which eventually made Katherine Close, the winner of the 2006 natioals, call me a freak for liking words too much).
My favorite words are 'therianthropic' and 'chatoyant'.
SYNTHS: I have been interested in electronic for quite some time, now, and have been playing piano for ten, going on eleven, years. What better way to bring these two together than to take up the synthesizer?
About a year ago, I purchased a MicroKorg-- simple, yes, but it has been an effective tool for teaching me the basic concepts of synthesis. I hope to develop my rig in the future to the point that I might be able to perform in front of an audience.
On a not wholly unrelated note, I am also the proud owner of a Wurlitzer 4060 organ.
ANTHRO: When I was seven, my father read The Chronicles of Narnia to me as bedtime stories (yes, I was very lucky-- I was also treated to Lord of the Rings at ten, as well as many science fiction short stories). Narnia (and maybe the alien races of those science fiction stories) awakened in me a sense of longing for beings, that while not human in form, were human in mind.
When I was ten, I received a copy of yellow version-- my first video game-- which sucked me into the world of intelligent monsters called pokemon. I even cried at one point when one of my games was restarted while it contained a Pidgeot I had raised over a period of two years (yes, I can be that maudlin).
While I was engrossed in the worlds of Kanto and Jhoto, my interest in real-life animals increased as well. I would quite frequently be consumed by manias towards different species for a period of six months to a year. Horses, wolves, eagles, deer (more on that later)-- I loved them all in turn.
Pokemon turned Redwall, which turned to Neopets, where I first heard the term 'anthro'. I was enthused by the concept (in fact, an advertisement with an anthropomorphic lupe was the very thing that made me start playing on the website to begin with. 'Therianthropic' was already my favorite word).
I began to search for anthropomorphic art/fiction on the internet in order to see what was out there, and, much to my surprise, found out that there were thousands of people throughout the world who had the same interests that I did. I am not an involved member of the furry fandom (yet), nor have I attended a con (but I hope to, eventually), but I am thoroughly in love with the concept.
I do have a fursona, as well as some fur-related interests. My furry code is: FArD3ad A C->++ D>++ H+ P R T+++ W>++++~**** Z->+ Sm- RLLW a->++++ e>++ f-->+ h+ iw++ sm#.
WRITER: If my long description has not already clued you in, I enjoy writing. In my mind, there are few feelings greater than the flow of words from my mind through my hands to whatever medium I desire. When I am interested in or passionate about a subject, I can completely immerse myself for hours in the task of recording my opinions.
Although I enjoy writing (as well as thinking about characters and worlds and arcane magics and strange foods and foreign places), I rarely finish any projects I start, as I frequently think about things until they collapse under their own weight.
I hope these six-letter words have told you a little about myself, and how I view the world. I do have more to say, but for now, I will end with just six more letters:
THE END.
